The Name of the college library is Khaira College Library which is computerised. It contains about 30000 books arranged under different sections and subsections. The Staff and students of the college may use the library.
READING ROOM The College has a reading room adjacent to it. The Staff as well students of the college may make the best use of it.
1. Opening Hours:
The Reading Room will be open for staff and students from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. on all working days and during long holidays.
2. Book Issuance:
Books will be issued only upon presentation of the renewed Identity Card-Cum-Library Card for the current session.
3. Identity Card Retention:
After a book is issued, the Identity Card-Cum-Library Card will be retained by the Librarian until the book is returned. Under no circumstances will students be allowed to take books outside.
4. One Book at a Time:
Only one book at a time will be issued to a borrower for use inside the Reading Room.
5. Book Exchange:
Borrowers are allowed to change their book once during their stay inside the Reading Room. However, such changes cannot be made before one hour has elapsed.
6. Catalogue Consultation:
Students should consult catalogues before entering the Reading Room. Requisition slips, duly filled in, should be handed over to the Librarian for verification and book issuance.
7. Book Condition Check:
Students must check the book issued to them thoroughly before leaving the issue counter and report any damage to the Librarian-in-charge.
8. Return Policy:
Students are not allowed to keep books borrowed from the Reading Room overnight. Books must be read inside the Reading Room and returned on the same day before leaving.
9. Prohibition on Removing Books:
Anyone who takes a book out of the library will forfeit their right to use the Reading Room.
10. Book Damage:
Any individual found mutilating or disfiguring a book will be dealt with seriously.
11. Silence and Discipline:
Utmost silence and discipline must be observed inside the Reading Room.
12. Disturbances:
Anyone found talking or causing disturbances in any manner will be deprived of library facilities on the first instance. Repeat offenders will have their names removed from the college rolls.
13. Furniture Arrangement:
The arrangement of chairs and tables must not be disturbed under any circumstances.
14. Prohibited Items:
No one is allowed to carry books, journals, or bags inside the Reading Room. Students are allowed to carry only their notebooks. Other items should be kept near the entrance counter.
15. Seat Availability:
The right of entry into the Reading Room depends on the availability of seats.
16. Arrival and Departure Recording:
All students must record their time of arrival and departure in a register kept near the entrance of the Reading Room.
17. Electricity Failure:
In case of electricity failure, readers are requested not to cause disturbance or leave their seats.
18. Subject-Specific Borrowing:
Students can only borrow books that concern their subject of study.
MANJULA BOOK BANK Smt. Manjula Behera, W/o - Lambodar Behera of Nuagaon under Khiara block has generously donated Rs: 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs) for the purchase of books to be used by the poor and meritorious students. The college has opened "MANJULA BOOK BANK" from the session 2006-07 in the fond memory of Smt. Manjula Behera. The deserving students may make use of this Book Bank as per its Guidelines.
