Khaira College supports a policy of zero tolerance for sexual harassment. The College adheres to the (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) POSH Act of 2013 and the National Commission for Women’s policy. The College is committed for providing a sexually harassment-free environment because it cares about the safety and well-being of both its staff and students. All forms of unlawful sexual harassment are categorically prohibited by the College.
Anti - Sexual Harassment Committee is formed to prevent sexual assault and other related crimes on Girls students.
Objectives:
> To develop guidelines and norms for policies against sexual harassment.
> To develop principles and procedures to combat sexual harassment.
> To work out details for the implementation these policies.
> To prepare a detailed plan of actions, both short and long term.
> To organize gender sensitization awareness programme.
> To deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized.
Internal complaint committee is a body envisions receiving complaints on sexual harassment at the workplace from an aggrieved woman, as well as inquiries into and the recommendation to the employer on the action required pursuant to its inquiry of such complaint made. The internal complaint committee has been established according with provisions of “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013”.
Objective of the Committee:
> To create a secure physical and social environment for women.
> To develop guidelines against women harassment.
> To organize women sensitization awareness program.
> To provide a safe environment that is free from sexual harassment.
> To promote social and psychological environment that will raise awareness about sexual harassment.
> Recommend appropriate disciplinary action against the guilty.
> Prevention of discrimination and sexual harassment against women.
Roles of Committee:
> To create and ensure a safe work environment that is free of sexual harassment especially for girls and women.
> To take note of complaints of sexual harassment of women employed, to conduct enquires and to provide assistance.
> To recommend to the concerned authorities, follow-up action and to monitor the same.
> To maintain an atmosphere of equality and gender justice.
The Sexual Harassment cases (if any) of the campus are resolved according to the “Handbook on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2015”.
Female students may also make a complaint of sexual harassment with the Ministry of Women & Child Development.
The Women Cell organizes talks and seminars to promote gender equality. Women Cell addresses the issues (if any) of the College’s female students and educates them on women’s rights.
